Chiltern Wonderland 50 2025 Preview

The tenth anniversary of our third 50 miler of the season. The Chiltern Wonderland remains a community favourite thanks to its beautiful course. A 50 mile loop with 5600ft of elevation gain, starting and finishing in Goring on Thames, visiting 5 check points all dotted around remote valleys and villages in the heart of the Chiltern hills.

This year we welcome some stand out runners in both the mens and womens field. As always you can follow the action live via the tracking page here and our instagram channel here.

WOMEN

Julia Davis: Part of our Centurion Coaching Team and running for La Sportiva. Julia's most recent race saw her finish a close second at this years South Downs Way 100 where she along with Lucy Gossage went under the existing course record. The Team GB 100km and trail team runner is our existing long-time South Downs Way 50 record holder, finished 14th at the World 100km champs in India in December and has a marathon PB of 2:39.

Julia Davis

Alice Bourne: A 2:48 marathoner, Alice picked up wins at two hillier 50kms in 2024. This year she finished second at Lakeland 50 and recently picked up second at the Engelberg 100km in Switzerland.

Karen Hacker: Winner of this race in 2021, Karen is also a past NDW100 champion. Other top finishes at our events include bests of second at Wendover Woods 50 in 2018 and third at the SDW100 in 2021. Outside of Centurion events Karen has lots of wins, podiums and top tens to her name including the South West Traverse, UTS 100km, Arc 50 and all of the Threshold series events.

Veronika Gill: Veronika took the final spot on the podium at the NDW50 back in May in a solid time of 8:13. Since then she has also come home in second place at the Serpent Trail 75km.

Hannah Green: Hannah finished third at the 2024 South Downs Way 100. Prior to that she'd already picked up sixth at the SDW50 in April of that year.

Flic Archer: This is stop three on Flic Archer's 50 mile Grand Slam with us this year. At the SDW50 she was 6th in 8:45. At the NDW50 she finished 9th and she had a strong run at the SDW100 between then and now to boot.

MEN

Joe Turner: Joe won at the Hundred Hills 50km back in March over a solid field and has since gone on to pick up a few further wins over that distance in 2025. He is a Team GB 100km runner with a PB of 6:35 over the distance, he represtented Team GB in India in December. He has a 12:52 100 mile best from Barcelona 24hr (split) in 2023. But he's handy on the trail too with wins in the past at Wendover Woods Night 50km, Maverick's Jurassic Ultra 50km and Ultra X's summer trail series 50km scattered in amongst some international level road and track running. His most recent outing with us was a drop at the SDW100 but he will be a big threat to the course record of 6:22 if he comes in to this one in shape.

Joe Turner

Stephen Marks: Stephen has had some fine results casting back over a reasonably long career in the sport. His 13:41 100 mile at our Track 100 and a fourth place at Autumn 100 in 15:21 amongst them. He has done well over shorter distances too and most recently ran home second at this years Country to Capital underneath the 5 hour mark for the 43 mile race.

Nick Berry: Nick finished third at this years Hundred Hills 50km but has plenty of excellent results in the near past. A sixth at the Arc of Attrition in 2024, a win at the Beacons Ultra in 2023 a year in which he also claimed top spot at the Serpent Trail 100km, finished second at the Ring of Fire and was 11th at UTS 100km.

Ed Knudsen: Ed has had two incredible runs at this event before. A win in 6:34 in 2019 and a second in 6:42 in 2020. NDW50 champion in 2022, Ed finished 14th at the NDW100 in 2024 so it will be fascinating to see if he can rekindle his past form again here.

Tom Harvey: Seventh at the Arc of Attrition this year, fourth at the Arc 50 in 2024 and fourth at the NDW100 in 2023. Tom has shown great consistency in results in recent years and should go well here.

Martin Reed: Seventh at the Thames Path 100 back in May, followed wins at the Winter Green Man Ultra in 2023 and 2024. His marathon PB of 2:37 is from Abingdon in 2022.

Tom Hedges: This will be his fourth outing at this event, his best to date coming in 2023 when he took home second place. Subsequent to that he has won the Humanity Direct Chiltern Ultra, finished fifth at Wendover Woods 50 and 19th at this years SDW50km with us.
